The Artist behind the Gallery of Light® Collections...
Robert "Bob" Olszewski is world known for his "all things small" art. He has evolved over the past 30 years creating art in miniature like no other. He continuously takes his figurative art work to extreme levels drawing complimentary comments and inquisitive remarks such as "how does he do that?". His art just gets better and better as he continues challenging not only the medium he works in (which he is always pushing) by the miniaturization of the art's subject.
In 1978, Olszewski began working in 1/12" scale and today (30 years later) he is creating the popular Main Street, U.S.A. from Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Fantasland in 1/220th "Z" Scale. At 65 years of age he brings another level of intricate art through his creating the new GALLERY OF LIGHT® product line. Only Olszewski could have created such a delightful setting where memorable moments are captured from the Disney Classic films in miniature. Since the line started, it has expanded to include other venues found in the following collections:
- Disney Classic Film Collection
- Disney Park Attraction Collection
- Disney Cruise Line Collection
- Olszewski Masterpiece Collection
- Olszewski Nativity Collection
- Olszewski Thomas Kinkade "Painter of Light" Collection
- Olszewski Elvis Presley Collection
- Olszewski Norman Rockwell's Saturday Evening Collection
- and there will be more to come...
Reducing that magical moment from the film screeens to a level that measures no more than 8" high is extraordinary. In addition, the new product line GALLERY OF LIGHT®, proivdes an additional attraction; electrical lights that center on the film or the subject's most important moment as interpreted by Olszewski.
As a natural extension of his numerous earlier Story-Time creations he created and produced for Harmony Ball, Robert Olszewski recreates Disney Classic film series in 3 dimensional art configured to light up to become GALLERY OF LIGHT® art. The Gallery of Light pieces are produced in 3 different sizes: Small that measures: 5 1/2" w x 4 1/4" h x 3 1/2" d, medium 4" w x 4 3/8" h x 3 11/16" d; and, large 4 3/4" w x 6 1/16" h x 3 13/16" d. They are created in two different styles, portrait and landscape. Each piece has a unique on and off switch found on the ornate silver or gold frame that surrounds each single scene. The Gallery of Light operates on either AAA or AA batteries, depending on the size; nor, do they have a timer switch. The image immediately below is from the Disney classic film Peter Pan titled "Pixie Laughter" Gallery of Light®. The light switch is activated by depressing the raised leaf carved into the frame in the bottom right hand corner.
The LED lights in the Olszewski Gallery of Light pieces are rated for 10,000 hours so they should not burn out unless the piece has been left on 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 3 and a half years. If you experience problems, it is more likely because the batteries need to be changed or are not inserted properly. If you have defective Gallery of Light pieces, please return them to where you made your purchase. Any other information needs can be sent to email@example.com.
The art contained in each GALLERY OF LIGHT® scene offers 3 dimensional layering of the subject that Olszewski selects. For example, the front layer of "Belle Dances with the Beast" or AKA "One Wonderous Waltz", allows the eye to slowly wander from the foreground to the background shows micro details. During the brief "mini-journey", you become awestruck at the impeccable details of Olszewski's "all things small" expertise he exemplifies throughout the piece. His own emotion embedded in each piece comes through quickly as you emerge yourself into this marvelous collectible art. Each film he selects has several lasting memories but Olszewski captures what he feels as the most important; and successfully transfers that moment to the art form.
Of note is that Olszewski creates Gallery of Light® for The Disney Company who sells online at the Disney Store, and at the Parks located in Orlando, FL and Anaheim, CA. From 2007 through 2010, Olszewski Studios created Gallery of Light pieces for
Enesco. Enesco then produced the Gallery of Light pieces and distributed them to
worldwide retail dealers. Olszewski no longer creates product for Enesco and those designs which it created for them are being re-issued through the Walt Disney Company parks and online at www.disneystore.com. Look for the first of these to be available later in 2012. At this time, Olszewski Studios does not any have plans to distribute Gallery of Light items directly to
retailers. Should this change, you can be notified. If you would like to be
